Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms joins Vice President Kamala Harris for “We Can Do This” tour

ATLANTA—Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms will join Vice President Kamala Harris for the Administration’s “We Can Do This” tour.  The national tour is being held to reach millions of Americans who still need protection against COVID-19, highlighting the ease of getting vaccinated, and mobiliing grassroots vaccine education and outreach efforts. The tour is intended to help reach President Biden’s goal of getting 70 percent of Americans vaccinated by July 4.

“Thanks to the leadership of the Biden Administration, our vaccination program has helped get nearly 50 percent of Atlantans vaccinated, contributing to a steep decline in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths, across all age groups,” said Mayor Bottoms. “Our work is far from over, and we are grateful for the Vice President’s commitment to ensuring everyone has access to this life-saving vaccine.”

Bottoms will join Vice President Harris for a vaccine pop-up event at Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, where they will speak to health care professionals and residents receiving COVID-19 vaccines. Later, they will attend a vaccine mobilization event at Clark Atlanta University to speak to the importance of vaccines in Atlanta communities.

In March, the Bottoms Administration launched a robust vaccine campaign. Currently in Phase II of the campaign, the City is engaging in activities to reach residents who are not yet vaccinated through a comprehensive public health program, including door-to-door canvassing and community events.

In addition to setting up vaccine pop-up sites through partnerships with CORE, Fulton County, Walgreens, faith-based institutions and Atlanta Housing, the City has also partnered with Uber to provide 10,000 free rides to vaccine sites, and MARTA for 40,000 free rides.
